There is a boat that flipped over in Lake Erie by the shore in Hamburg. As you can imagine, people are worried about anyone who was on the boat. Did anyone die?

The boat is located right now off the Hamburg Coast between Woodlawn and Town Park. People have been posting on Facebook that they called 911 to report it, but the Hamburg Police assure that everyone is okay. They posted on Facebook on Monday morning announcing that the boat started sinking last night and that everyone on the boat is okay.

There is a salvage company that is going to take the boat out of the water, but right now they are waiting because it is drifting closer to the shore, and that is going to help the clean-up crew and make it much safer.

Did you know there are tons of shipwrecks under the water of Lake Erie?

Experts in Lake Erie suggest that there are about 1,500 ship wrecks that are under the water in Lake Erie between Cleveland and Buffalo, New York. According to NASA:

"According to an Ohio Sea Grant project that documents many of the lake’s shipwrecks, 277 wrecks have been discovered so far. They are distributed widely throughout the lake, but the western part around Toledo, the Erie Islands, and Cleveland is particularly dense with known wrecks."

Some reports say that there is a ship that is nearly 190 feet in Lake Erie that sank years and years ago. There are some places that will actually do tours or shipwreck discoveries in Western New York in the summer.
