The food scene in Western New York is unmatched and its the local places that give the region the reputation for awesome cuisine. Granted, most of the food in high regard is bar food but still, the local restaurants are the backbone of the community.

Chain restaurants will always have a place in Buffalo. It's not secret, however, that Buffalo does not attract the selection of chains that other cities are accustomed to.

Market size and the fact that we're located in New York (higher taxes) have a lot to do with that.

One place that doesn't have many locations nationwide has been in Western New York for a long time, until this past week.

Buffalo Business First is reporting that Boston Market has closed its final Buffalo location, which was located on Delaware Ave.

This comes a year after the location on Maple Rd. in Amherst closed for good, which has been open for over two decades.

The oven-roasted chicken restaurant has had financial troubles in recent years; forcing to close some of their locations and being in debt from other financial situations, in which they owe money.

Boston Market offered a quick way to get a type of food not normally accessible at fast food places. It was a good change of pace but it's not shocking that they couldn't compete with the likes of KFC, Popeyes, McDonald's Wendy's and the host of local places nearby.
