Brandon Beane Claims This Offseason He Won’t Be A Big Spender
The Buffalo Bills are officially in offseason mode. So what moves will Brandon Beane make to make the team better?
According to him, you shouldn't expect any big splashes from him. In his end of the season press conference he claimed that he doesn't anticipate being a big spender.
Last year he said the same thing and in his defense, he didn't really make any huge signings. Curtis Samuel, Casey Toohill, and Nicholas Morrow were some of the biggest names the Bills were able to get signed in free agency. They didn't make a big splash like they did the year they signed Von Miller, for instance.
But it was a different story last year. They had just cut a bunch of players to not only make some room on the roster for younger talent, but to help get themselves under the salary cap. They had also made a trade to send Stefon Diggs to Houston so they were going to eat some dead cap too. Last year was all about getting themselves out from under contracts.
So the question is whether he's bluffing or if he's actually not going to spend much. I think it's fair to say that a large number of fans would be happier if he were bluffing. Last offseason felt like he was taking a step back so that we could take two steps forward this year. They want to see a splash. They want to see the missing piece find their way to the Bills. They want to get over the hump and they want it now.
