The first round of the 2022 NFL Draft is just nine days away. If you ask any NFL fan, outside of the regular season opening Sunday, it's the most fun they will have all year.

We all try to play general manager for our teams, and Bills fans are certainly no different.

The Buffalo Bills hold the 25th overall pick in the first round next Thursday night and one thing we know about Bills GM Brandon Beane, he keeps things close to the vest in regards to leaks. The Bills simply don't have many leading up to the draft.

However, a pretty interesting tidbit was brought up by NFL reporter Josh Norris. There are some older first round projected players in this draft, like Georgia defensive tackle DeVonte Wyatt, who is 24.

Most prospects are between 22-23. Some are 21 and even 20, while some are 24. Norris says some teams care about this.

The Bills appear to be one of those teams. Joe Buscaglia of The Athletic shared that under Beane (since 2018), he has not taken any first round player above the age of 21. The oldest was Josh Allen, who turned 22 the following month.

All first round picks get a standard four-year contract with an option for a fifth year. In the NFL, age matters a lot. Most players careers are over by 30 and certainly by 32-33. 21 years old vs. 23 or 24 matters to many teams and the Bills appear to be one of those teams, based on draft history.
