Someone Is Breaking Into Cars At These Western New York Parks

The place you have always taken your children for a nice family walk may not be as safe as you once thought. 

Kristine Bailey took her kids for a nature walk on Monday, like she would on any given week. They stopped at Stiglmeier Park on Losson Rd, a favorite amongst the kids.

They were enjoying the warm weather in Western New York, but unbeknownst to them, someone was on a violent rampage, breaking into vehicles at not only Stiglmeier Park but other common places for families as well. 

“My car window was blown out and they stole my purse and everything in it,” Bailey said. 

Four other cars at Stiglmeier Park were broken into as well, but that’s not the only place that was targeted.

Sarah Bates from Buffalo commented, “This happened at the eternal flame yesterday too!”

Bailey said that people also privately messaged her in response to her post, sharing that cars were broken into at the following parks on the same day:

• Chestnut Ridge
• Lockport Nature Trail
• Eternal Flame

Bailey’s window was completely shattered when she returned to her vehicle with her children.

“It’s such a personal invasion and my children are traumatized from it,” Bailey said.

The situation managed to get worse when Bailey received a call the following day. 

“I received a call…from M&T Bank in Wilmington, Delaware that they stopped a couple from cashing a $4000 check with my license and debit card in the drive thru,,” Bailey said. “So they made it that far.”

The thieves also stole checks from a Hamburg woman who is 90 years old.

“I hope she is ok as well,” Bailey said. 

They are currently searching for a license plate and some photos of the couple who has Bailey’s purse.

When asked if she thought that the same people could be behind all the car break-ins, Bailey said, “Yes, I really do.”

“I made it 44 years without ever being robbed and it’s such a personal invasion,” Bailey said.
