UPDATE: NFTA Drops Mask Mandate For Buses And Buffalo Airport

**UPDATE** The NFTA has now announced that they are lifting all mask mandates for the Buffalo airport and for all NFTA buses.

On Monday a federal judge ruled that masks don't have to be worn on airplanes and now the NFTA will comply with that ruling allowing people to not wear masks while at the Buffalo Niagara International airport.

The Transportation Security Administration is no longer enforcing the federal face mask mandate, face masks will no longer be required for customers and team members at U.S. airports and on domestic flights.

As of early this morning, the Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority which runs the metro busses, and the Buffalo Niagara International airport still required masks to be worn while on their property. They changed that policy as of 9:30 am this morning and will not continue to mandate masks at the airport and on their buses.

This was the message on the NFTA's website, early this morning stating that masks would be required until further notice.

Your nose and mouth must be covered in public, per federal law. This includes all Metro buses, rail cars, PAL vans and buildings

Most of the airlines stated that they will defer to local guidelines when it comes to requiring masks to be worn and now with the latest statement from the NFTA, you will no longer need to wear a mask at the Buffalo airport and on NFTA buses.

Last week the CDC has extended the mask mandate for airline travel through May 3. The masking requirement applied to airplanes, trains, and other forms of public transportation. The federal judge in Florida struck down that ruling on Monday.
