How is it already the middle of August?

It feels like it was just yesterday when school let out for the summer, but now we are already eyeing those Back to School deals because the new year is right around the corner.

However, the economy is tight right now, and prices have soared over the last few years for school supplies and necessities.

If you are struggling financially and you are worried about purchasing school supplies for your child, there will be an event this weekend to help out the families in Western New York.

Kelsey Anderson, morning anchor on News 4, shared on Twitter that The Fashion Outlets of Niagara Falls will be holding a backpack drive this weekend.

On Saturday, August 20, you can pick up a free backpack filled with school supplies, thanks to The Salvation Army, United Way of Greater Niagara, and Niagara Falls Boys & Girls Club.

The backpacks will be distributed this Saturday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. In order to receive a backpack, students from Pre-K through 12th grade must be present upon pickup.

There is a limited supply, and the backpacks will probably go fast as it is a difficult time right now for many families, but we will keep you posted on any future community back-to-school events.
