Dhane Smith has a chance to set a new National Lacrosse League single-season league record for points. The current record is 137 points and was set in 2016. Currently, Smith has 135 points this season and would only need 3 points in the game tonight to set the new record.
This season Smith has scored 41 goals and 94 assists in 17 games. His 41 goals are also the most this season on the Buffalo Bandits.
Smith who started his career in Buffalo has spent time with the Bandits, the Rochester Rattlers, Chesapeake Bayhawks, and Chaos LC over a 10-year career. He has amassed 310 career goals and 509 assists for a total of 819 career points.
Smith will have a chance to set the record in front of the home crowd as the Bandits will wrap up their regular season at KeyBank Center against the Toronto Rock.
The Bandits have won 14 games this season and are hoping to continue their winning ways tonight and into the playoffs with the hope of winning an NLL championship.
The last time the Bandits won the championship was in 2008. The last time they made the championship was in 2019 when they lost to Calgary. The NLL playoffs were not held in 2020 due to COVID-19. The current season officially started on December 3rd, 2021.
