Major Buzz The Bills Will Take This Player With Pick 25
It’s finally here. The day of the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft.
If you ask most fans of the NFL, the next three days are one of the most fun stretches of the calendar year. When I was a kid, the NFL Draft was probably my favorite two days of the year (back when the draft took place on a Saturday and Sunday).
The Buffalo Bills have what many consider the best roster in the NFL and the favorite to win the Super Bowl in Arizona in February of 2023. They don’t need a lot, but Bills fans on Twitter have specified cornerback and wide receiver as two positions they would prefer to be drafted early on.
There’s a lot of buzz the last several days, however, that the Bills would instead take a running back with the 25th overall pick.
There's been a great deal of talk lately on Twitter that the apple of the Bills eye is Iowa State running back, Breece Hall.
Hall is considered the best running back in the draft and is a well-rounded player who can break off tacklers, has tremendous vision, elusive speed and a good pass catcher.
Daniel Jeremiah of The NFL Network mocked Hall to Buffalo in his final mock draft on Wednesday night.
So did Peter Schrager of The NFL Network.
Chris Simms of NBC Sports said he’s heard through the grapevine the Bills love Hall, and Benjamin Allbright, Denver Broncos insider who is usually correct on his insights, said the Bills want Hall.
This could all be a smokescreen, and the Bills are good at keeping secrets, but they were linked to Josh Allen in 2018 and were supposedly in on drafting Travis Etienne before Jacksonville took him in the first round last year (as Allbright pointed out).
Breece Hall would fit in the Bills offense perfectly. Iowa State used plenty of RPO and Hall would add an element Devin Singletary and Zack Moss do not have — explosiveness.
Drafting a RB in round one also gives you the fifth-year option, meaning you get the player for another season. The Bills likely do not want to pay a RB with a second contract. Singletary could be gone after 2022 and Moss seems to be fighting for a roster spot after his disappointing end to 2021.
Cornerback will be taken by the Bills in the first three rounds and I would bet on wide receiver too…but I do believe the Bills love Hall and if the board falls a certain way, would pull the trigger.
