The Buffalo Bills Lose A Coach To The Miami Dolphins
It's going to be busy in the front office of the Buffalo Bills. The Bills have just begun their search for a new head coach following the firing of head coach Sean McDermott, and once they're done with that, they're going to have to fill another vacant coaching spot.
Bills' special teams coach is headed to Miami
It's pretty common when a head coach moves on to another team that the rest of his supporting coaches move on too. Today, one of those first pieces fell. The Miami Dolphins announced that they will be hiring the Bills' special teams coordinator Chris Tabor.
Tabor had a successful stay in Buffalo, even with adversity
Tabor came to the Bills after serving as Carolina's interim head coach in 2023. While he was only here for a year, he was pretty successful. Not only did he help coach Ray Davis to become the league's leading kick returner, but he did the same in the past with Devin Hester and Josh Cribbs.
The success didn't come easy though. He was also faced with quite a bit of adversity. For example, he ended up using six total punters and kickers to make it through. He started off with Tyler Bass as his kicker, but after moving Bass to IR, they brought in Matt Prater, who kicked for the rest of the year (except for two games that were covered by Michael Badgley. Then his three punters included Mitch Wishnowsky, Cameron Johnston, and Brad Robbins.
Don't expect the Bills to fill their vacant position quite yet
You probably won't hear the Bills make an announcement about a new coach filling Tabor's spot any time soon. They're still on a search for their new head coach and he will probably fill out his own staff. If the Bills want to interview any of the coordinators of the remaining playoff teams, they'll have to wait until after February 9th to do it.
