Bad News for Buffalo Bills Fans Who Want Throwback Uniforms
We're done with the NFL off-season, as all 32 teams are back at training camp this week.
The Buffalo Bills wrapped up day three of camp at St. John Fisher University on Friday, as they prepare for their first preseason game of 2023 in two weeks: August 12th against the Indianapolis Colts from Highmark Stadium.
The Bills are not the media darlings they were a year ago, even if the roster is as good or better on paper, as it was in 2022. National media members are not buying into the Bills finishing above the Kansas City Chiefs or Cincinnati Bengals; some even picked the Miami Dolphins or New York Jets to win the division.
Other than on-field performance, fans around the league are getting hyped up for the throwback uniforms that many teams will be wearing in 2023.
The Seattle Seahawks, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Atlanta Falcons and Tennessee Titans have all committed to wearing '90s era uniforms, while the Philadelphia Eagles have been teasing a return to Kelly Green uniforms next week.
That meant many Bills fans have been patiently waiting for the Bills to make the same announcement for the red helmets for 2023, but sadly that won't happen, at least not this year.
Sal Capaccio of WGR in Buffalo reports that despite many fans calling for a return to a throwback red helmet look, the Bills have "no plans" on wearing red helmets in 2023.
They will evaluate plans for the future, according to Capaccio.
The Bills current uniforms are gorgeous. They should not change their main look at all, but adding a red helmet for one or two games per season feels like a perfect match. If that happens, Buffalo will have a literal perfect lineup of jerseys for the Bills and Sabres.
Bills wear their white helmets with the red, white and blue look. The Sabres wear their royal blue and gold jerseys, with the black and red look as an alternate.
Perfection.
Bills fans will have to wait at least one more year for the red helmets.
