Mentoring Program Hosting Panel Discussion for Girls in Buffalo

With all of the youth violence that has been happing in our community, there is a local mentoring program is trying to do its part to help by engaging girls in our neighborhoods and they are planning a unique event the get their attention.

The Confident Girl Mentoring Program is partnering with the 2022 Girls Run the World Committee to invite girls from Westen New York between 13-19 years old to sit down and have a Girls’ Long Table Talk with the goal of getting down to the root cause of what's going on in the hearts and lives of teenage girls in the Buffalo area.

This in=person discussion panel will be a safe space and provide some instruction for youth to talk about topics that are important to them.

The next Long Table Talk will take place on Thursday, February 17, 2022, from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at Shea's 710 Theatre, located at 710 Main Street in downtown Buffalo.

The committee includes Buffalo Police Department Deputy Commissioner Barbara Lark, BPD Captain Tommy Champion, Confident Girl Mentoring Program CEO, WBLK's own Yasmin Young, Executive Director of the Police Athletic League Nekia Kemp, City of Buffalo Deputy Mayor Dr. Ellen E. Grant, City of Buffalo Chief Diversity Officer Shatorah Donovan, and Director of Arts Engagement and Education Thembi Duncan.
