Beach Hazard Issued For Erie And Chautauqua Counties Today
Today is the first official full day of summer, but unfortunately if you've planned to spend it at the beach, your plans might need to be put on hold.
According to the National Weather Service, there is a beach advisory for beaches in Erie and Chautauqua counties today until late tonight.
The weather this afternoon (6/21) is expected to be severe. To use the language of the National Weather Service, "it's going to be an active weather day." We're expecting some very strong winds with gusts up to 60 miles per hour and heavy rain with thunder and lightning.
Along with the strong storm, they're expecting swimming conditions to be less than favorable too.
The Beach Hazard went into effect as of noon today through 1am Tuesday morning. They're asking to people to stay out of the water because strong currents could cause dangerous swimming conditions.

We have some great beaches here in Western New York. We've even made a list of them for you here.
It still reminds me of the time when Kristian Bush came here to Buffalo to play at Mickey Rats. He couldn't believe how beautiful it was and even wrote a song then and there about a beach bar in Buffalo.
