Most fans will say that all they can ask for is that their team gives an honest effort.  For the Buffalo Sabres that's been a problem in many games this season, but at least for one night they treated the fans to a solid 60 minutes and it produced an impressive 6-2 win over their closest rival the Toronto Maple Leafs.

With the First Niagara Center packed with Leafs fans chanting "Go Leafs Go", at times it seemed more like a road game for the Sabres.  But the Sabres took control of the game while at the same time quieting the Leafs fans by scoring a power play goal and another one shorthanded for a 2-0 lead at the end of the first period.

The Leafs scored twice in 60 seconds late in the second period to close to within 4-2, but Tyler Myers goal early in the third period erased any doubt.  Zemgus Girgensons scored his second of the night to close out the scoring.

Tyler Ennis scored on the power play to open the scoring while Girgensons scored shorthanded on a great pass from Brian Flynn.  Drew Stafford and Matt Moulson also found the net while Michael Neuvirth made 32 saves to pick up the victory.

The Sabres have won 14 of the last 16 games against the Leafs at First Niagara Center.  They remain home to host San Jose on Tuesday night.
