The NHL off-season is in full swing, as we are now two days removed from the start of free agency.

The Buffalo Sabres have kept busy, as they have made some key re-signings, as well as signed free agents on the unrestricted market.

Buffalo re-signed forward Victor Olofsson to a two-year contract worth $4.75 million per season, which will take Olofsson to unrestricted free agency at the age of 28. It's a good signing for both Buffalo and Olofsson. The team also re-signed forward Vinnie Hinostroza to a one-year contract and goaltender Malcolm Subban to a one-year, two-way contract.

The Sabres also signed free agent defenseman Ilya Lyubushkin and goaltender Eric Comrie, who is expected to split time in the net with Craig Anderson, who also came back to Buffalo on a one-year deal.

But the Sabres might not be done.

According to TSN NHL Insider Darren Dreger on TSN690 in Montreal, Sabres general manager Kevyn Adams kicked the tires on trading for Arizona Coyotes Jakob Chychrun, although nothing looks imminent nor likely at this time.

Dreger added Chyhcrun fits the age dynamic (24 years old) and to not be surprised if Buffalo makes a couple of "decent runs," in adding a forward and defenseman.

For now, the Sabres are at the salary cap floor. Spotrac lists them at $62 million and the cap floor is $61 million, so the Sabres don't necessarily have to make another move.

If you ask most, the Sabres are still a year or two away from making a playoff run and they would prefer their young guys to play in 2022-2023...but adding a Jakob Chychrun would be a nice addition and make the Sabres defense core one of the best in the NHL.

He's been very good when healthy for Arizona, but the problem is he has not played anywhere close to a full season since being taken in the first round of the 2016 NHL Draft.

We will see if Adams makes any other moves.
