Starting Goalie Rumored To Be In Buffalo Sabres Trade Talks
The Buffalo Sabres are preparing for the 2023 NHL Entry Draft, where general manager Kevyn Adams will hold the 13th overall pick.
The Sabres will have some cap room to play with once again, which is the upside of having a very young roster. Some of that cap space will surely be used to sign star defenseman Rasmus Dahlin to a new deal; likely worth $10+ million per season.
Buffalo could use one more veteran forward to help the young nucleolus, as well as another viable defenseman. They also need to trade for or sign a goaltender to pair with Devon Levi.
Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen is likely not in the long-term plans, and I doubt Eric Comrie is back. UPL could be used as part of a trade.
Would the Sabres trade for Philadelphia Flyers goalie Carter Hart?
Hart has been in trade rumors the last week; ever since Flyers GM and former Sabres captain Danny Briere said that he would listen to calls for Hart.
The 24-year-old has been the Flyers number one goalie the last two seasons. He's had good moments and some growing pains. With Philadelphia trying to transition their roster, Hart could be dealt.
Elliotte Friedman of TSM said that the Sabres will likely be involved in any trade talk in regards to a goalie, until they sign or trade for one.
The Sabres did trade for Matt Murray in 2022, but Murray did not waive his no-trade clause and rejected the trade to Buffalo.
Levi will be in Buffalo but to assure the Sabres make the playoffs, they have to get a viable option to pair with him.
