If you are like me, you are always looking for a deal. I will look for scratch and dent items, use coupons, and try to stay away from those "Bougie" spots when I go grocery shopping.
So it came as a huge shock to me when I learned that the one place I thought was the cheapest spot for grocery shopping wasn't.
Cheapest Place For Groceries In New York State
If you are like many New Yorkers and me, you probably assumed that Walmart is the cheapest. They have marketed themselves like it, and I have shopped there for years and know they have plenty of deals.
Well, according to a new study by Consumer Reports, Walmart is not the cheapest place for groceries. In fact, the study used Walmart as the baseline to find which stores were cheaper for groceries,
According to a new study, the overall cheapest places to grocery shop is Costco and BJ's Wholesale Club. Of course, you have to pay for a membership to shop at those places, so that cost would be higher when you factor that in.
The cheapest non-member spot was Aldi, which I always thought was more of a "high-end" grocery store. My wife loves shopping there, and I will see that she can really load up our take-home bags with plenty of food for a reasonable price.
