It's been a debate for a long, long time and it can finally be (almost) put to rest. Cheerleading is officially a sport, according to the International Olympic Committee. Early Thursday the committee recognized the sport, which means one day could be in the Olympic Games. According to WGRZ:

IOC will give cheerleading's governing body $25,000 per year, with the opportunity to apply for other grants. The provisional recognition will last for three years, during which the sport can apply to be included in the Olympics."
