New York State and the entire country are currently dealing with the Delta Variant as COVID-19 cases continue to rise, mostly among those who remain unvaccinated.

Today, Governor Andrew Cuomo made a few announcements regarding the "concerning" spike in cases and the 25 percent of the state who remains unvaccinated.

Governor Cuomo announced that all patient-facing healthcare workers at state hospitals will be required to get the vaccine, in order to keep both patients and healthcare workers safe from COVID-19.

Not only that, but Cuomo also urged private businesses in New York to only allow vaccinated people into their establishments. This is an effort to help curb the spread of COVID-19 and especially, the new Delta Variant.

Cuomo also said that the state has had ongoing discussions with federal leaders and international healthcare experts, as they decide what will be the next steps taken (if any) in regards to the rise in infections in New York State.

On Tuesday, the CDC recommended that those who are fully vaccinated should start wearing masks indoors again in parts of the country where the virus is surging.

It's still unclear when or if New York State will reimplement any indoor mask requirement. As of now, you do not have to wear a mask in most settings if you're fully vaccinated.

We should know more about what lies ahead in the next few days or weeks.
