Add one more Brandon Beane move to the 2026 offseason for the Buffalo Bills. This time it's another move to keep a player that's already on the roster.

The Buffalo Bills have decided to exercise the 5th year option for Dalton Kincaid

The Bills announced today that they will be holding onto Dalton Kincaid for another season.

Kincaid was already under contract through the end of the 2026 season, but this option year will keep him in Buffalo for the 2027 season also.

What does this mean for the Buffalo Bills?

When a player is drafted in the first round of the draft, they sign a 4 year contract with that team. So the team has the rights to that player for the first 4 years of their career. They can be traded or cut, but they cannot go to any other team until either of those things happens or their contract expires.

Teams have a deadline for when they're going to exercise a 5th-year option on those first-rounders. The deadline for players who were drafted in the 2023 draft is May 1, 2026. Today, the Bills decided to keep Kincaid on through the 2027 season.

What does this mean for Dalton Kincaid?

When the 5th-year option is picked up on those players, their salary becomes completely guaranteed for that last year. In the case of Dalton Kincaid, that means he will get paid $8.1 million for the 2027 season regardless of any other circumstance. So if he gets injured and cannot play the last year of his contract, or if he is cut, he will still get the entire year paid.

It's a huge payday for him that will almost double his salary from this upcoming year where he will make $4.2 million.
