Darien Lake May Not Open Their Summer Beach
Darien Lake State Park may not be able to open for the summer unless they hire some additional help.
Western New York resident Todd Phelps shared a post on Facebook about how much the park needs employees.
The post said:
“Darien Lake State Park is desperate for lifeguards. And will have to close the beach for the year if a lifeguard doesn’t come forward soon! Needs at least one more to keep it open. Hiring link in comments below. Ages 15 and up & $15 and up.”
You can see the list of qualifications here.
Staffing shortages became more common as the pandemic got its initial start, and it affected a lot of our favorite local businesses’ hours. However, I don’t think anyone could have foreseen the possibility of Darien Lake State Park closing the beach for the year.
Becoming a lifeguard is one of the best first jobs you can have. Not only do you continue to actively pursue a healthy lifestyle by being a lifeguard, but you acquire life skills that more people should have.
As a lifeguard, you learn how to become a first responder in CPR and AED operation, and it’ll help you find an inner calm when responding to emergencies, allowing you to stay focused when assisting the community and potentially saving a life.
We’re hoping that Darien Lake State Park can find their newest lifeguard soon, because it’s not summer without Darien Lake!
