In a recent television interview, Dierks Bentley casually mentioned that he climbed a 7,000-foot freakin' mountain. The country singer broke the news on TODAY and the show shared part of the interview via Twitter on Thursday (Aug. 1).

"I was on top of the Tetons [Teton Range] about 24 hours ago out in Wyoming," Bentley tells TODAY. "It’s an 18-hour climb; 7,000 vertical feet. I have cuts and scrapes all over my body. That was like yesterday," he laughs.

Bentley referenced he had two friends take him to "the top of the mountain" and that it was "pretty crazy" to be climbing in the Teton Range and then appearing on television in New York the next day.

Bentley is currently touring to promote his latest album The Mountain (the irony!), a 13-track LP which has already yielded No. 1 singles such as "Woman, Amen" and "Burning Man." However, Bentley opted to play his latest single "Living," on the morning program.

The song is currently No. 15 on Billboard's Country Airplay chart and is accompanied by a fun music video featuring Bentley and his 5-year-old son, Knox, on what Bentley has called a playdate "on steroids."

In a 2019 media roundtable, Bentley previously told Taste of Country, "Of course my other kids are waiting for their music video now. ... [daughter] Jordan thinks we're gonna go mountain climbing together and do 'The Mountain' video, so I’ve put myself in a little bit of a conundrum here."

It looks like Jordan missed her chance with Dad on the Teton Range, but maybe this was just Dad's practice run to make sure it was safe?
