DMV Opening Up In Phase 3: The Changes You Need To Know About
Easily, one of the most talked about questions brought up the last three months in Western New York is "when will the DMV open?" and "what changes will there be when that happens?"
Now we know.
According to the New York State Department of Vehicles' website, DMV offices will open back up for limited in-person transactions as part of Phase 3, which should be in a couple weeks here in Western New York.
Also, people will need to make reservations, according to WIVB, per County Clerk Mickey Kearns.
“When I became clerk, we instituted ready, reserve, renew. You heard me talk a lot about making appointments. We’re all ready to make appointments. It’s going to be a new normal for the public, you won’t be able to just go to a building anymore, you’re going to have to make an appointment, and I think that’s going to be good. I think you’re going to see we’re going to be able to control the flow of people,” Kearns said.
- Reservations/Appointments are required.
- Road tests can resume.
- Critical service transactions will be prioritized.
