Dramatic End To These Traffic Tickets In New York
Not all laws last forever. That certainly is the case in one county in New York State after a mix up has led to a traffic law coming to an end.
The busy holiday travel season has taken a pause and the regular routine is back, for now. The big news for drivers in the Northeast this week is the fact that another round of lake effect snow is on the way!
But for drivers in Suffolk County, there is a traffic law that has taken a backseat.

According to multiple reports, lawmakers in Suffolk County failed to extend the red light camera laws that were put in to place.
The county stopped generating tickets from its 216 red-light cameras December first - because Albany never extended the law to keep it active.
News 12 Long Island reports that: "As News 12 has reported, Suffolk County has about 100 red-light cameras. The tickets are about $115. The program has generated around $39 million each year for Suffolk County".
Recently, New York State Police conducted their annual Holiday sweep of distracted drivers, DWI and those who broke the speed limit. Thousands of tickets were handed out over the course of a few days across New York State.
As we wait for the snow to fall again, this is a good reminder to stay alert and stay safe on the roads, whether the cameras are watching or not.
