Eagle That Crashed Into Buffalo Building Being Released Sunday

A few months ago, a bald eagle was found sprawled out on the sidewalk after crashing into a Buffalo building. This weekend he will be re-released.

You may remember the story of the juvenile bald eagle that crashed into a building in Buffalo and was injured. If you haven't, he was so young that his head hadn't even turned white yet. He was completely brown and he was found laying on the sidewalk. He was hurt, but luckily for him, that was as bad as it got.

He had a broken femur and was taken by the SPCA to see if it could be repaired.

The good news is that it was repaired!

He was sent to Cornell University’s Janet L. Swanson Wildlife Hospital where he underwent surgery. While there, they estimated that he was born within the calendar year, so it wasn't even a full-year-old when he had his accident.

After his successful surgery, he was sent to Messinger Woods Wildlife Care and Education Center in Holland, New York. He has been there ever since.

That will all change this weekend though as they plan to release him back to the wild on Sunday. They're planning the release at noon on Sunday from Wendt Beach. It's great news for that eagle and everyone who was involved in its rescue and rehab.

This was a true combined effort to nurse this eagle back to health from the Buffalo police officers who found the eagle, to YourSPCA who rescued it, to the people at Cornell and those at the Messinger Woods Wildlife Care and Education Center. Congrats on a successful rehab to all of them!
