Add the Eden Corn Fest to the list of events that are yearly staples but will be cancelled for this year.

The announcement was made today by festival organizers and directors that while we are in the midst of the pandemic, it will be too risky to hold an event of that size.

This would have been the 57th annual Corn Fest held in Eden.

They say that the cancellation is due to the uncertainty of what will be in August.

"Much consideration was given to every aspect of the Festival.  With many months of planning already into the event, it was decided that the event could not commence this year due to all the uncertainties with the current COVID19 pandemic"

Many people ask, "Why do it now?  Why not wait until it gets closer and see where we are then?"  The problem isn't with the weekend itself.  The problem comes from putting all the work and money into an event that could be cancelled at the last minute.  A cancellation closer to the event could be a devastating blow with all the money that would be lost if they tried to push forward.

"The Board felt that it would be too much of a financial strain to attempt to put on the Festival and comply with all State, County, and Local "Social Distancing" requirements due to the unpredictability of the ever changing criteria associated with the pandemic.  The Health and safety of our committee members, volunteers, sponsors, employees, and patrons is of the utmost importance to the Board."

If everything goes well, the tentative dates for next year's Eden Corn Festival will be August 5th-8th, 2021.
