The Bills were banking on a comeback year for Chase Claypool.  But is it the end of the road for him instead?

Claypool was heading into a make-or-break season

When the Bills signed Chase Claypool, they kind of knew that it was a make-or-break season for him.  The former second-round draft pick had certainly shown promise during his days in Pittsburgh but had fallen off since then.  After a dismal season in Chicago and another in Miami, the Bills decided to give him a chance in Buffalo. He would be joining his fourth team in five years. However, it hasn't gone as well as he was hoping.

Things were looking good for him

He was going to get to play with Josh Allen on a team that was looking for applicants to fill vacant positions in the number one and number two wide receiver positions on their roster.  He looked good in OTAs, but then as he started camp, he suffered a toe injury and hasn't seen much time since then.

Is this the end for Claypool?

It certainly doesn't look good for him.  When trying to make a roster of 53 people, you have to be available.  As they say, one of the best abilities is availability and not being able to get on the field is a huge problem.

However, technically, he's still on the team (for now).  Back in the day, IR meant the end of your season. The rule then changed to state that a player can stay on IR for as long as it takes them to heal, but they must stay out for at least 4 games.  Once they start to practice again they open what they call a 21-day window.

However, that rule has been changed again.

So it looks as though he will be done at least for this season with the Bills.  Will he be able to come back with them or another team next year?
