EPIC aka Every Person Influences Children, Inc. is bringing back its EPIC Storytime program to Canalside this summer. That means 9 weeks of FREE Storytime for young kids and families to enjoy!  Storytime will run every Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. starting on June 27 and ending August 29.

This is another great way that the city of Buffalo is helping to get kids excited about reading.  The EPIC Storytime Summer Series aims to create a positive and fun environment for families and young children (up to age 8), promoting reading and a healthy lifestyle, all while learning valuable life lessons together as a family. The Storytime events incorporate educational themes and include a book reading and corresponding family activities. The following is the weekly list of themes:

  • 6/29-Storytime Kickoff with USA Olympic Goalie David Leggio, along with Sabretooth
  • 7/11-Super Heroes Help Others with Mayor Byron Brown as the guest reader. Children are invited to come dressed as their favorite super hero
  • 7/18-Aweseome Animals with a visit from the Buffalo Zoomobile
  • 7/25-Making Music (and instruments) with Scott Celani
  • 8/1-Fantastic Foods for You with Buster Bison
  • 8/8-Fit n' Fun and Learn How to Exercise Like the Animals. The BlueCross BlueShield of WNY Healthy Zone Cruiser will also be on hand for some fitness fun.
  • 8/15-Weather Wonder with Andy Parker from WKBW
  • 8/22-Let's Build Something with Our Friends from Home Depot (Amherst)
  • 8/29-End of Summer Party - Be Nice to Others. Children can come dressed up in your favorite storybook character.

A big thank you to Children's Foundation of Erie County and Arts Services Initiative of WNY for their support, which allows us to provide this FREE programming to the families in our community.
