
“Florescent Clothing” Law Impacts All Of New York State
The growing season is over and the fall is here! Much of New York State woke up to a frost or the first freeze of the season this week. It is an exciting time to be in The Empire State.
Families across the state are getting ready for Halloween and are picking out their costumes and hoping for buckets of candy. However, there are some who are excited for the best part of the fall; hunting season!
New York State is one of the best places to hunt for whitetail deer and it is also has some of the most unique and strict hunting laws.

Currently, the archery season is underway in New York State. But as the next few weeks roll on, the regular or "firearm" season will be here. For the thousands of hunters who enter the woods to hunt, you need to keep in mind the "florescent clothing"law.
What does New York State law say about wearing bright colors when hunting? There are TWO colors that are required under New York State law. The DEC states that: "Under these regulations deer and bear hunters are required to wear fluorescent orange or fluorescent pink clothing while hunting with a firearm. Any person who is accompanying someone hunting deer or bear with a firearm must also wear fluorescent orange or fluorescent pink clothing".
Get ready for the most exciting part of the hunting season. The bright full moon will start to fade, and the bucks will start to get very active! It is a great time to be in the woods. However, remember safety first!
