Today is a big day in Western New York for our first responders. A lot of the local police, fire and EMS agencies in Western New York will be in a parade down Transit Road with The National EMS Memorial Moving Honors.

The National EMS Memorial Moving Honors is honoring Beckie Eleczko from Millgrove Fire Department and Jim Sauer, a Mercy Flight pilot.

What is happening on Transit Road?

The parade will start about 5:30 PM from Hamburg and make its way all the way north on Southwestern and Transit Road until it get to Russell's Patriots and Heroes Park (they expect it to take between 45 minutes to an hour to get to the final spot). There will be a ceremony tomorrow morning at 10 AM, as well.

In addition, Queen City Pizza, part of the Chrusciki Bakery, Sto Lat Bar and Pierogi Pete’s brands, will be offering a First Responders Day to celebrate our community heroes at Queen City Pizza in Amherst from open to close.

First responders, with a valid ID, will be able to stop into the Sheridan Drive location for a free slice of any flavor and a drink. One slice and drink per first responder while supplies last.

Thank you to all of our first responders in Western New York. As a guy who had a parent as a firefighter, I know how other family members feel. Our brave men and women work long hours, odd hours and go into danger to protect and save the rest of us.

Thank you!
