If you're a fan of Swiss Chalet and you're tired of driving all the way up to Welland, Ontario to get your fix, there's good news on the horizon.

It was a sad day when the last Swiss Chalet restaurant closed here in Western New York.  Lovers of the chicken restaurant chain here had only one restaurant to go to after that and it was up in Welland, Ontario.

Now, the owner of that restaurant is making it easier for people in Western New York to get their Swiss Chalet fix.  Terry St. Amand owns the Welland restaurant and he just made the announcement that he's going to open another new one in Fort Erie next year.

So yes, you will still have to cross the border but it's a lot closer.  The new restaurant will be at 575 Garrison Rd on Highway 3 in Fort Erie.  According to The Buffalo News, that's the first exit after the Peace Bridge and just one mile from the border.

The goal is to break ground in November and open up in the Spring of 2020.
