The Fatal Mistake That New York Homeowners Are Making
The fall is here, and across New York State, the leaves are falling and the grass is growing like crazy! As we start to see some heavy rain move in to the state, there is a danger that homeowners need to be aware of.
Some experts say that the fall is the best time to grow new grass. The warm days, cool nights and rain can be the perfect recipe for the seeds to thrive. The ground is already warm and ready for the grass seed as opposed to the spring conditions.
But the very weather that helps the grass to thrive, might also pose a risk to those who mow it.
The Danger Of Mowing When It's Wet
I received this photo from a friend this week who is going to be OK after flipping his lawn mower while mowing the lawn.
"It was a rookie mistake and I guess it is still too wet", is what he told me after the incident took place this week.
While he was mowing the grass in his backyard, the lawnmower was on the edge of a but of an decline/mini hill. The wet grass and mud underneath gave little traction in an area he is able to mow with no problem in the summer months.
It is just another reminder to take it slow this fall and think before you do the things that you always are comfortable with. We are all getting back in to a different routine after the long summer and it's easy to get distracted or rush things.
