If you have been following along with my blogs, then you know that I was hoping to take a deer with my new CVA muzzleloading rifle. My family and I are big venison eaters. Deer meat is one of the healthiest food choices as it is lean and contains no chemicals or preservatives.

My wish came true on Sunday afternoon in Elma as I took a doe at 100 yards. This was my first deer with this particular gun and I was very happy to say the least. Between my son and me, we now have four deer in the freezer. This should keep us going all Winter long and perhaps into the Spring and Summer months. Our big plan for the Holidays is to make lots and lots of deer jerky. Tyler and I have been making deer jerky for years and it's one thing our family and friends can't seem to get enough of.
