The busy Memorial Day weekend is here and many New York State residents are wondering if the burn ban is still in place?

The ban was on until May 14th and has ended. However, there is always a concern that wildfires can spark at any time. If you are camping, be aware and smart about any fire you may be having.

Enjoy the weekend and try to limit the size of any fire you have on your property.

This mild stretch of weather has also brought drier than normal conditions and residents have been using the good weather to clean up the sticks and trees that were toppled from the strong winds of January. Burning them now is fine. However, a deadline is looming here in New York State.

According the post on "X", formerly Twitter, from the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, it was noted that "Whether you're headed to the Adirondacks or any other part of the state, the fire danger is currently low, but remember that warming temps, high winds, and low humidity can all contribute to heightened risk in no time".
