Explore & More is holding a 'reverse car parade' to honor Western New York's military and first responders on Saturday September 12.

The Honk for Heroes parade will take place in the Buffalo News lot, on Washington Street near Scott Street, downtown.

The 'reverse parade' idea works like this -- you can reserve a space for the parade at this link, then they'll have military and first responder vehicles lined up for families to drive by and see. Practice your waving stamina now!

The parade marks the second day of a two-week celebration of Western New York heroes. Starting on September 11, there will be an unveiling of four art installations at Canalside, near the museum.

As well, your family can take part in the My Hero campaign at Explore & More, where kids can write down who their hero is, and why. They can also post photos, videos and stories about their heroes using the hashtag #ThankYouWNYHeroes.

Hot tip: there will also be special activities on the Explore & More website that might be useful for homeschool projects!

All military, first responders, and essential workers will get one free admission to the museum from Sept. 11 through Sept. 30 using the code THANKYOUHEROES when you purchase passes online.
