Most of 2020 can be summed up with one sentence: "rescheduled for a later date."

But, because of the success of the Buffalo Bills -- those events might be able to get back on the calendar for 2021.

And while the Bills were pretty successful on-field this season -- it's the team's approach to safely allowing fans to be present for playoff games that's the big win.

Last week, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo announced updated guidance for wedding receptions in the state, and the new guidelines are familiar for Bills fans.

"The governor called the updated guidance "Safe Marriage Receptions," and said it follows the success of the program that allowed fans to return to the stadium for Buffalo Bills games. Fans were required to receive a negative COVID-19 test to be allowed to attend." -WKBW

"We are very excited about the possibility of reopening venues with testing," Cuomo said. "We tested it in Buffalo and we want to extend it." -The Buffalo News

The new guidelines will be effective as of March 15, and include protocols like testing all attendees within 72-hours of the planned event.

The new guidelines require:

  • Testing for all that attend the event.
  • 50% capacity - up to 150 attendees
  • Must be approved by local health department.
