Millions of people will be going to Buffalo Bills games this season.  How safe are they when they get to the stadium?  What about other stadiums?

Football season is upon us.  If you're one of the many people who will be packing into Highmark Stadium to cheer on the Bills, the last thing you want to worry about is whether or not something bad is going to happen.  You just want to have some fun and watch some football.

New study sets out to find the safest stadiums in the NFL

Recently a study was done to determine how safe (or dangerous) every stadium in the NFL is right now when it comes to violence and crime in and around the stadium.  It was done by iGamingNuts and had some disturbing findings.

They looked at just about everything from the amount of crime that happens around the stadium to what goes on when you get through the gates.

Unfortunately, a lot of people saw violence when going to games.

They found that 43% of people claim to have seen a physical or verbal altercation at an NFL stadium.  That could be anything from an actual fight, to a verbal exchange between two people that might have gotten a little heated.  Very few people would admit that they want their day to go like that, but it happens a lot.

How did Highmark Stadium do in the study?

While Bills fans have a reputation of getting absolutely crazy at Bills games, Highmark actually ranked really high in this study.  They were ranked the 2nd safest stadium in the league.  For every 1,000 fans in the stadium, there were only 13.45 crimes committed.  When speaking of violent crime, Highmark did really well also with a rank of .33 violent crimes per every 1000 fans.

Which stadium was ranked as the safest?

Want to go to a game and feel incredibly safe?  The place to be is Gillette Stadium, the home of the New England Patriots.  Gillette Stadium has the lowest total crime, with just 9.36 per 1,000 residents living in the stadium’s zip code.

It was kind of between the Bills and the Patriots at the top of the league in just about every category.

When ranking stadiums, if you've got one that's the safest, you also will have one that is the most dangerous.  That distinction will go to SoFi Stadium, home of the Rams and Chargers, with over 65% of attendees reporting violent incidents.
