The most important part of preseason is that you come out of it healthy.  But the Bills are struggling a little with that already this season.

Preseason is tough.  You want to play your players as much as possible to get them the reps that they need, but at the same time, you want to make sure to protect them from injury.

Last year, the Bills ended up dealing with some incredibly serious injuries.  Tre'Davious White ended up tearing his Achilles after coming off of an ACL injury.  Matt Milano broke his leg.  DaQuan Jones tore his pectoral muscle.  And those all happened in the first part of the season.

This year, the Bills are dealing with injuries again.  One of the most impactful and devastating, of course, is Matt Milano tearing his bicep after rehabbing his leg all last year.  Two weeks ago they lost Chase Claypool with a toe injury.  Shane Buchele was moved to IR after being injured against the Bears.

This week, they lost backup quarterback Mitch Trubisky with a knee injury, Wide Receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling with a neck injury, and Quintin Morris with a shoulder injury.

Many of them are backups, but often teams that are deep with talent go further in the playoffs.

Thankfully, Coach McDermott isn't taking any chances against the Panthers this weekend.  He's already decided to keep the starters out of this Saturday's game.

This is all before the regular season has even started.  You've heard the phrase that the best ability to have is availability and it's proving to be true for the Bills.  These coaches are going to need healthy players on the roster.  It will be interesting to see what happens with many of these guys as we inch closer and closer to cut day next week.
