Kansas City Linebacker Getting Internet Hate For Punching Josh Allen
Josh Allen added to his career highlight tape with a ridiculous play again last night. But fans are angry about what happened at the end of it, again.
Last night the Bills did what many doubted they would be able to do. They took on the undefeated Kansas City Chiefs and they won. They did it in pretty dramatic fashion too. It came down to a 4th down play with 2 yards to go for the Bills to go ahead by two scores.
That's when Josh Allen put on his cape.
The Bills were just past the 26 yard line when Allen dropped back to pass then took it himself. He dropped back as far as the 37 yard line then decided to go. He scurried past the 2 yards they needed to get the first down then just didn't stop. It was like he was running down hill. Play-by-play announcer Jim Nantz immediately claimed it was the "Play of the year in the NFL."
But it was what happened at the end of the play that drew the attention of some fans. Last week you could see a player that was throwing punches at Josh as he was running. This week it wasn't a flurry of punches, but just one punch from Kansas City's Drue Tranquill that seemed to land right on the left side of Allen's helmet after he crossed the goal line.
While it would be easy to get mad at him like the person who posted the video above, it's a pretty common play in the NFL these days. Often players are coached to punch at the ball with hopes of knocking it out and causing a fumble. It works, a lot. We used to see players like Jordan Poyer and Micah Hyde force a ton of fumbles this way.
Some fans said, if the NFL would've fined the player from the Colts that did this, he wouldn't be punching him like that. But the NFL did end up fining that player. He received a fine of over $10k for those punches even though he didn't get a flag.
Now we wait to see if Tranquill receives the same fate.
How could you punch a guy that loves puppies like Josh Allen does?
