American Red Cross Looking To Help People Hit Hard During Buffalo Floods

For many people around Western New York, the start of September is pretty exciting but also kinda routine. You have the start of High School and College Football around the region, plus the hometown Buffalo Bills getting ready for the regular season. You have the Bisons getting ready to wrap up thier season and talk about the Sabres getting to work soon. Plus, of course, back to school too, with tens of thousands of kids getting back to work in the classroom.

However, one thing that doesn't come up all that often in early September is the weather. That is, until 2026, as two days of wild weather have left many parts of Western New York with a big cleanup thanks to at least 7 confirmed tornadoes and thunderstorms that brought record rainfall to Buffalo.

Now, as many people all over Buffalo, Kenmore, Tonawanda, Cheektowaga, and other areas in Western New York get to work cleaning up their flooded basements and businesses, one non-profit that has a major presence in Buffalo is looking to step up and help folks in need.

Western New York's American Red Cross Is Offering Free Cleanup Kits For Those Hit With Floods

Many people all over North Buffalo, Kenmore, and other regions of the area are dealing with wet basements that have 12 or more inches of sewage in them, plus several businesses are cleaning up flooded shops and stores. Dealing with that can be quite difficult, which is why the American Red Cross of Western New York has free Clean Up Kits for people who need them around town.

The Clean Up Kits, which include mops, squeegees, brooms, scrub brush, concentrated Liquid cleaner, gloves, masks & a 5-gallon bucket, and more, are available to whoever needs them on Saturday, September 5th, Sunday, September 6th, and Monday, September 7th.

There are no applications or financial requirements to get a cleanup kit, but you do need to call the American Red Cross of Western New York to set up a pick-up time at 716-878-2353.
