Two major projects in Western New York will get millions of dollars in funding from New York State.

New York State Governor Kathy Hochul announced that $6 million dollars in funding was approved by the New York Power Authority for two projects here in the 716.

The first award was $5 million dollars to Feedmore WNY which is in the process of a $95 million dollar expansion in Hamburg, New York. They are building a new facility/warehouse off Camp Road. The project is expected to create 25 jobs in Hamburg.

Feedmore WNY is also getting $24 million dollars from the State’s Special Capital Appropriation fund to help pay more for the expansion.

New York Power Authority Chairman John R. Koelmel said, “FeedMore’s mission to end hunger in Western New York is a shining example of community dedication—an ideal that NYPA is proud to support.

 

The other award was for $1 million dollars to the Graycliff Conservancy. The $1 million dollars in funding will help with the preservation efforts of the Frank Lloyd-Wright designed Graycliff estate.

The Empire State Development will also be providing an additional $1 million dollars in the form of a Western New York Regional Economic Development Council capital grant to help renovate the Graycliff’s visitor center.

The funding from the New York Power Authority is made through the Western New York Power Proceeds Fund, which is made up of money earned through the sale of unused hydropower generated at the Power Authority’s Niagara Power Project.
