Everyone in New York Needs to Change Their Gmail Password Right Now
It seems like a given nowadays: you will need to change your password. It doesn't really matter which password. It will need to be changed. From your office requiring constant changes, to you forgetting the password to Netflix, to hackers stealing your information: passwords should be constantly changed. It's annoying, but it's important for your digital security.
If you're one of the 2.5 BILLION people with a Gmail account, you're up for a password change.
Multiple news outlets are reporting that hackers have gained access to Google and stolen Gmail passwords from everyone.
This also means your Google password is compromised. Google urges you to change your password immediately to avoid issues.
Your Gmail and Google password controls a lot of things, including Google Docs, Google TV, YouTube, Google Sheets, Google Play, and everything Google owns. It's also commonly used with Google Wallet to pay for things and log into other services. Google is part of most people's lives, one way or another, so make sure you update your password as soon as possible.
In New York, millions of people, from the average person to businesses, use Gmail and Google services daily to communicate and accomplish tasks. This will no doubt cause some havoc for millions, though it's not entirely clear how much or when it could. Often, the issue pops up weeks and months later, but it's never at a convenient time. Best to change your password now and avoid a headache later.
Passwords should also not be easy to guess, not be obvious, and should involve letters, numbers, and symbols. That's easy to say, but you also have to remember it.
