Buffalo Bills Starter Changes His Number Before the Season
We're almost there.
The start of the 2023 Buffalo Bills campaign will be on July 26th, which is when the first training camp practice will happen. Veterans report the day before, with rookies reporting a week prior in July 18th.
Many national media personalities are not listing the Bills as the favorite in the NFL, or even the second or third favorite.
The Kansas City Chiefs, Philadelphia Eagles and Cincinnati Bengals are all more sought after for Super Bowl picks...if you ask the Bills players, they are just fine with being more under the radar than a year ago.
One of the biggest pieces of the Bills offense in 2023 is someone who shared time with Devin Singletary in 2022.
Second-year running back James Cook is entering the season as the Bills number one back. He will share some carries with free agent signing Damien Harris and veteran Nyheim Hines, but Cook will for sure get more touches this season than he had as a rookie.
Cook will also have a new jersey number.
He will switch from number 28 to number 4, which was the number he wore he at the University of Georgia. It's also the number his older brother Dalvin switched to last season, when the NFL allowed more positions to wear more numbers.
Cook could have a breakout season. He's not a back who will run between the tackles 20 times a game, but he will run it 10-15 times, while catching another 5-6 passes. He has that kind of potential.
The Bills first preseason game will be on August 12th against the Indianapolis Colts. It's a home game at 1 pm.
