After spending 9 seasons with the Buffalo Bills, one former player penned a thank you to Bills Mafia members and the city of Buffalo.

This week former Buffalo Bills player Jerry Hughes signed with the Houston Texans after becoming a free agent this off-season. After signing with the Texans, Hughes posted a thank you to Buffalo and Bills Mafia on his Instagram page.

Huges was a 1st round draft pick by the Indianoplious Colts in the 2010 NFL Draft. He played with the Colts from 2010 until 2012 before being traded to the Buffalo Bills for Kelvin Sheppard.

Hughes played in 184 games so far in his career recording 412 total tackles along with 58 sacks. He also forced 16 fumbles and had one career interception.

Last season, Hughes was the longest-tenured Buffalo Bills player and a leader on the team. He played in all 17 games, starting 16 of them. He recorded 18 tackles and 2 sacks last season.

The Bills will now look to Von Miller, who they signed to a mega-deal this offseason, to step into the leadership role that was open when Hughes wasn't resigned. Miller is expected to produce on the field and also mentor the young linebackers and defensive ends on the Bills that includes A.J. Epenesa, Greg Rousseau, and Boogie Basham.

The Buffalo Bills are currently the odds-on favorite to win the Super Bowl this season, while the Houston Texans are looking to rebuild and will need a veteran presence to help lead their young defensive corp.
