New York Jets Finalizing Deal For Davante Adams
Davante Adams requested a trade from the Raiders a couple of weeks ago and it looks like he might get his wish today.
NFL Analysts are reporting that Adams is going to be headed to New York.
The move will bring Davante Adams back to the same quarterback that he started his career in the NFL with as he is reunited with Aaron Rodgers.
It's been a bit of a theme for the Rodgers-led Jets to get the band back together essentially. When Rodgers' trade deal was in process, one of his stipulations was that they also signed Allen Lazard who also played with Rodgers in Green Bay.
One reason Rodgers was unhappy in Green Bay was that he didn't have much say in the personnel that would surround him. He was upset when the Packers traded Adams to the Raiders and he had no say about it.
That doesn't seem to be the case in New York.
Rodgers now has Lazard and Adams back with him. He also had his play-caller Nathaniel Hackett brought in when he got traded too. This week, play-calling duties were taken from him however, after head coach Robert Saleh was fired and they named Jeff Ulbrich the interim head coach.
How much did the trade for Davante Adams cost the Jets?
Nothing official has been posted as of the writing of this post, however, they're saying the Jets will only have to give up a conditional third-round draft pick. They will also have to pay Adams the rest of his contract.
