When you're looking for fabrics or crafts to make things, a lot of people go to Joann Fabrics.  Sadly though, one of the WNY locations will be closing soon.

If you are hoping to get a new dress made this winter, or you've got some more decorations to make for Christmas, you might want to get into the Joann Fabrics in Batavia.  They will be closing that store at the beginning of next year.

"In alignment with standard brick and mortar business processes, JOANN closes stores occasionally while simultaneously investing in, and opening brand-new stores to best meet the needs of our customers. The last day of business for the Batavia store is January 15, 2023." - Shauntina Lilly, JOANN Manager of Public Relations, Diversity, and Inclusion.

The good news is that the Batavia store is the only one they plan to close in Western New York right now.  The locations in Amherst, Blasdell, and Williamsville will all remain open for the time being.  They have over 800 stores nationwide and this seems to be a pretty common practice to continually open and close stores.

Standard brick-and-mortar stores have been struggling over the last couple of years to compete with online shopping.  It's hard to argue with the convenience of shopping online when you can literally shop from your couch.

But when it comes to buying fabrics, it's hard to see what the colors actually look like in real life.  You can't tell how soft a piece of fabric is online.  There's nothing that can compare to going to a store, and being able to see and feel what you're about to buy.
