The Bills went through the first round of OTAs with one important piece from their defense being a no-show.  All-Pro Safety Jordan Poyer was notably absent from the facility as he is currently seeking a new contract.

This morning, ESPN's Adam Schefter is reporting that things will be different when the team kicks off a mandatory minicamp on Tuesday, June 14th.

Poyer made a key change earlier this offseason, as he switched agents, and is now represented by NFL super-agent Drew Rosenhaus, as he prepped for new contract negotiations.

Poyer had signed a two-year, $19,500,000 contract with the Buffalo Bills prior to the 2021 season, including a $3,000,000 signing bonus, $13,300,000 guaranteed, and an average annual salary of $9,750,000.

Poyer who has played at an All-Pro level since joining the Bills in 2017, is more than likely looking to get paid in the range of the highest-paid players in the NFL.  The top 5 highest paid safety currently are:

1. Jamal Adams/Seattle Seahawks - $17,645,000/per year

2. Harrison Smith/Minnesota Vikings - $16,000,000/per year

3. Justin Simmons/Denver Broncos - $15,250,000/per year

4. Budda Baker/Arizona Cardinals - $14,750,000/per year

5. Eddie Jackson/Chicago Bears - $14,6000,000/per year

Defensive coordinator/assistant head coach Leslie Frazier said that he has been in touch with Poyer throughout the offseason, and will be excited to see his All-Pro on the field this week

The 31-year-old Poyer was originally a 7th-round pick of the Philadelphia Eagles in 2013. He was in town recently for fellow safety Micha Hyde's Celebrity Softball tournament.
