Josh Allen Shares His Thoughts On Playing In The Preseason
To play your starting quarterback, or not to play your starting quarterback. That is the question. Here's what Josh Allen thinks about his preseason playing time.
The preseason is always such a questionable time for a team
Preseason is a time to work out the kinks, get a good look at players you want or don't want on your roster, and establish some chemistry between your players. You want them to get a feel for each other on the field and off the field but of course the biggest part of the preseason is to stay healthy. You don't want anyone getting hurt.
Preseason doesn't count towards your record
I've always felt that preseason games should be for evaluation, practices should be for chemistry and working out kinks. So if you think that one player needs to be playing more with another for timing or chemistry, it should be done during practices. The preseason games don't count towards anything but they can be a good opportunity to get a look at players in a game like setting. If you don't need to evaluate a player, they don't really need to play in a preseason game. Why give them the opportunity to get hurt if it doesn't matter?
How does Josh feel about playing in the preseason?
Josh Allen is just fun to watch. He can pull plays out from nothing. When people pay for a ticket, they're hoping to see him play.
But does he need to?
I think most Bills fans would tell you to just let him sit on the sidelines with a baseball cap on and a clipboard in his hands. Keep him out of harm's way as often as you can.
Josh is kind of indifferent either way.
It was interesting that he said "at this point in his career" that it wasn't important. Will we see Josh play this weekend? Who knows? But I hope we don't. No one is going to care how the Bills did against the Bears in a week one preseason game.
