Western New York Do You Remember Shopping At K-Mart?
This week a surprise business was trending on social media after it was reported that K-Mart was down to its last four stores in the country after it closed two stores this week.

When I saw the news, I was flooded with memories of shopping at the K-Mart on French Road and Transit road. Currently, Dave's Christmas Store is in the building that was once K-Mart.
I grew up in West Seneca and during the Christmas season, I remember my Mom shopping for Blue Light specials and trying to grab some deals before Christmas Eve.
Also that K-Mart was the place we went and bought all our Bills AFC Championship gear during the early 90s when the Bills went to four straight Super Bowls.
Do you remember shopping at K-Mart here in Western New York? There were five locations across the area.
One on French road like I mentioned, one in Niagara Falls on Military road, a big one on Walden Ave, one off Niagara Falls Blvd, in the Boulevard Consumer Square shopping center, one in West Seneca near the Thruway Mall on Orchard Park road, and the last one to close in Western New York in 2019, located on Hertel Ave.
Now that we don't have any K-Marts in the area, what replace the home of the Blue Light Special.
On French road, it is Dave's Christmas Wonderland.
At Boulevard Consumer Square, it is the Christmas Tree Shops
The 2590 Military Road in Niagara Falls location was sold in 2021 to a Florida developer and is going to be turned into an indoor storage facility.
The K-Mart at 2055 Walden Ave was torn down and still hasn't been replaced.
The K-Mart at 349 Orchard Park road was also torn down and nothing has replaced it yet.
The K-Mart at 1001 Hertel Ave was closed in 2019 and the building has been abandoned but it is still standing.
