Buffalo Does Not Appreciate Fast Food Chain’s New Sauce
Growing up in Western New York, we are conditioned to believe a few things.
One of the are the Bills are everything. The Sabres are also near and dear to our hearts, while we are in Western New York, not Upstate New York; even though some people refer to Buffalo as in Upstate New York.
Maybe the most popular food opinion here in Buffalo is that only blue cheese goes with your wings. We don't say Buffalo wings, rarely even say chicken wings, and ranch never, ever goes with your order of wings.
Yes, many places serve ranch but you have to specifically ask for ranch if you want them with your wings, and that's when you will likely get some weird looks thrown your way.
If you live in other parts of the country, ranch is common with wings and even with Buffalo sauce, not blue cheese; much to the disappointment of Western New York.
KFC recently introduced their Buffalo Ranch sauce, which combines Buffalo spicy with cool ranch.
This would never fly in Buffalo.
Some comments from Buffalonians agree that this is not the sauce combo they prefer.
I'm personally not a fan of ranch with anything, not just wings. It's a very overpowering condiment and bleu cheese really is a perfect combo with the spiciness of wings. It's also a huge tradition in Western New York and the first time I saw this ad, I said to myself "oh boy, that would not be popular in Buffalo."
